I think what you are observing is what's called "Memory Overcommit", or "lazy swap allocation"

Generally, it's not that the memory was not released, but it's not 'being reused by other programs' UNTIL they need them.

我们每天都需要备份一次，这样就是不断增加，所以最终会导致SYBASE出问题！
